The Bar
OUR STORY
A true piece of living history, the Cedar Tavern was the gathering place for countless iconic artists, abstract expressionists, beat poets, and folk legends. On any given night, you might have caught Jackson Pollock trading punches and ideas with Willem DeKooning or Jack Kerouac. You could have overheard Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, or Allen Ginsberg quietly plotting their next creative breakthrough.
In 2006, the Cedar Tavern closed its doors for good, swept away by a wave of commercial development. But for the founders of Eberly, who had spent more than a few nights swapping stories at that very bar, the legacy was too meaningful to let fade. They acquired the original bar, carefully dismantled it, and moved it to Austin, where it rested in storage, quietly awaiting its next chapter. Today, that legendary bar has found a new home at Eberly, where it remains a vibrant symbol of history, creativity, and the spirit of Austin.
